Uptown will soon see some new retail.

Construction has commenced on a small parcel of land on Louisiana Blvd. NE, right across the street from Coronado Center.

The 5,435-square-foot project will house two retailers, including Aspen Dental, which will take up 3,750 square feet. Aspen is a nationwide dental office practice.

Wilger Enterprises is leading the construction “under supervision” of Sun Vista Enterprises, both based in Albuquerque. Albuquerque-based NCA Architects is the architect on the project.

The lot was previously a parking lot but now that there’s underground parking available for the four-story building behind the project, there was space to add retail. The project is part of The 24s@Uptown mixed-use project.

Previous upgrades to The 24s@Uptown project, include a transformation of the former 86,000-square-foot office Main Bank building into a mixed-use building with luxury condominium units and retail on the bottom.
